They readily respond to any inquiries or queries you may have. Pay for the product or service with ease by using any of the available modes of payment, such as Cash, Master Card, Visa Card, Debit Card, or Credit Card.

Location

Most signboards would take you to the other lounge that’s named Travel Club Lounge. Fortunately, The Irish House is also located on the same floor.

Just follow the signboards that take you to the entrance of the Travel Club Lounge, then take a left, walk a few steps and you should be able to find The Irish House on the right.

Check-in

I used the Priority Pass that I received with an HDFC Infinia credit card to get access to this lounge. If you’re wondering what else you can find in the lounge, here’s a quick glimpse at it.

From what I’ve noticed, the lounge is accessed by business class travelers and Airline crew most of the time. As the airside is shared by both domestic and multinational passengers, I noticed the international flight crew in the lounge.

I was also surprised to see someone use a lounge key membership (foreign credit card) to access the lounge.

The Irish House, Kolkata: Decor

I’ve never been a pubbing type of person, jostling for drinks and sports. But of course, pubbing in beer gardens in London’s Covent Garden or under cascades of colorful summer blooms is another story. Tales of London dining pubs can be interesting with steak tartare, scotch eggs, and fish and chips; of laid-back afternoons, brilliant locally emphasized beers, and house ales on tap. No, The Irish House cannot change its posh fifth-floor luxury mall location, but its classic cosy, clubby woodsy interiors never fail to entertain. And the menu gives an animated cheer, especially if door-delivered with the proper excuse of an epidemic.

Seating & Interiors

The lounge has proper dining tables, lounge seats, and then some comfy green lounge chairs that look so beautiful.

Food

The food spread is almost the same as what I saw at the other lounge the same day, except that here the stock is full and looks clean. Additionally, there was also someone nearby to help you with whatever you needed.

The taste is quite good and the Uttapam was truly delicious, so much so that I went for 3 rounds. It is good to see South Indian dishes being well-tasted here. However, idli is not good anywhere in North/East India (even in hotels).

The menu bears inspirational impressions and titles from distant Irish Danes but does not support the efforts or content of the lively traditionalism of English or Irish. Instead, it creates a delicious concoction for millennials to hang out with fries and fritters, Caribbean barbecue, burgers, pizza, and pasta while they quench their game thirst.

Plus & Minus

Aggregator delivery is without fault; brown paper sealed bag packaging, with mandatory hygiene check and mention of temperature is impeccable. Kraft paper insulation keeps food warm, fresh, and convenient! Deep-fried, crumb batter onion rings get a crunchy start with occasional jalapeño bits as well as a cheesy jalapeño sauce dip. Spicy Jerk Chicken Skewers are small bites of aromatic, feisty, and fiery marinated chicken with a buttery sheen. The smoking hot beer batters flaky Basa strips actually lift all moods, swooped in house herbed tartar, with garlic French fries and sweet apple slaw, no hint of goat cheese though. Ultimately, the substantial Irish Man’s Supper is a heavy beer-doused chicken roast, along with a little bit of salty smoothness of red wine jus and pleasant hand-cut potato wedges, sauteed veggies side.

Bottom Line

After Bangalore, I’m happy to see a dedicated lounge at Kolkata airport for premium travelers. This makes it one of the best airport lounges in India to spend some time in.

Though, there is one thing you need to keep in mind, which is, it opens only by 8 am. This was the reason I had to waste some time with the crowd at another travel club lounge before I finally got to this one, as soon as it opened.

So if you want to access this lounge, you can’t take an early morning flight!
